Protect PDF adds password encryption to a PDF, and lets you restrict printing, copying, or editing. The PDF format actually supports two independent passwords: an open password that blocks anyone without it from viewing the file at all, and a permissions password that leaves the file readable but restricts specific actions like printing or copying — you can set either one alone or both together. Processing runs on the server and the uploaded file is not retained afterward.
What you can do with the Protect PDF
Open password and permissions password
Set a password required to open the file, a separate password to change permissions, or both.
Restrict printing, copying, or editing
Apply permission limits independently, even without requiring a password to open the file.
Standard PDF encryption
Encrypted with standard PDF password protection, compatible with common PDF viewers.
Deleted immediately after processing
Your file is uploaded temporarily to encrypt it, then deleted right away.

- 2Set a password to open the file, a password to change permissions, or both.
